For many, Christmas is a time to look forward to. A time when families often get together a time that is all about giving and receiving gifts. If you are the child of someone in prison Christmas can feel very different – when your friends are looking forward to meeting up with their families it can be reminder that someone you care about can’t be with you. For the parent outside it can a difficult time as they face the burden and responsibility of trying to provide something for the children- even when finances can be very stretched.

Our Angel Tree project is all about providing a bit of hope and cheer in this difficult time. We work alongside the family centres in all the Scottish prison to provide gifts and arrange Christmas parties for the children of those in prison. Not only does this bring a bit of cheer and hope to the children who take part but for those in prison they love the opportunity to connect with their children at Christmas time.
